Gerber means quality and Grylls means smart (except when he decided to steal honey out of that bees nest- bad idea) and both names mean Tough and this fire starter is not different. Quality , smart and tough as well as value/valuable. There are many things one needs in the field but right after food and water…is fire (and sometimes no fire means no food) so its nothing to mess with or try to cut costs on- dependable fire every time-period.

I found it very easy to use and quite a good value for the price, it can store a small amount of tinder or magnesium shavings inside which makes it even better. I’m quite happy with this new addition to my wanderlust bag of tricks. Sincerely, Mr. Fred Silva

Good product. The metal scraping piece is great and very effective. The unit sends out an impressive spray of sparks. I’d recommend it.

not a great deal of spark i touched up the edge of the striker and it improved some.. but isnt easy, after trying different dry tinder i finally gave up and used a cotton ball with some vasoline on it..(that did ignite) Not saying you can’t start a fire with it ..but i couldn’t… went to cotton ball after 30 mins of trying

The knife is duller than a butter knife, the matches don’t strike worth crap, the cordage is weak, and the pouch tore the first time I unzipped it. I can’t believe I wasted $20 on this. I could build a better kit at the dollar tree.

This is my first fire starter. Since it looks like it will last a lifetime it may also be my last. Good job!
